['mælpæs], Eric Lawson, englischer Schriftsteller, * Derby 14. 11. 1910, ✝ Bishops Waltham (östlich von Southampton) 16. 10. 1996; wurde v. a. in Deutschland durch seine humorvollen, lebendig geschriebenen Romane um eine englische Schriftstellerfamilie populär (»Morning's at seven«, 1965, deutsch »Morgens um sieben ist die Welt noch in Ordnung«; »At the height of the moon«, 1967, deutsch »Wenn süß das Mondlicht auf den Hügeln schläft«; verfilmt). Schrieb auch eine Romantrilogie über das Leben Shakespeares (»Sweet Will«, 1973, deutsch »Liebt ich am Himmel einen hellen Stern«; »The Cleopatra boy«, 1974, deutsch »Unglücklich sind wir nicht allein«; »A house of women«, 1975, deutsch »Hör ich im Glockenschlag der Stunden Gang«).
